Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or “BJJ” is a martial art, combat sport, and a self-defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting.  Jiu Jitsu is based on the principle that an individual can successfully defend themselves against bigger and stronger opponents by using leverage, technique, and by applying joint locks and choke holds to defeat an opponent.

In traditional Jit Jitsu, a “gi” uniform is worn. However, due to the rising popularity of MMA in recent years, the modern adaptation, “no-gi” Jiu Jitsu, has become equally if not more relevant when compared to the traditional style.  At KMS, we practice no-gi Jiu Jitsu.

With a seemingly endless hierarchy of positions and counter maneuvers, Jiu Jitsu is both physically and mentally challenging.  Hone your ground fighting skills by learning the art of Jiu Jitsu – come roll with us!
