Krav Maga

Krav Maga

Krav Maga is a simple, effective self defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios.  The goal of Krav Maga is to bring individuals of both genders and of all physical abilities to a high level of proficiency in a short period of time.  Emphasis is placed on physical fitness and strength while learning self-defense techniques.

Krav Maga Level 1:

This entry level class is designed for all new Krav Maga members. The goal of the class is to teach the basics of self-defense and fighting. Members will learn Krav Maga’s fighting stance and movement, various punches, kicks from a standing position as well as from on the ground, elbows and knees, and how to defend against punches, chokes, headlocks and wrist grabs. Members who train an average of three times per week should expect to complete the curriculum in six to nine months before testing into Krav Maga Level 2.

The following clothing and gear is required for Krav Maga Level 1 classes (required for KMS Members only – does not apply to people doing trial classes or trial weeks):

  • KMS t-shirt or top (required during class)
  • Hand-wraps
  • Groin protection (mandatory for men; optional, but recommended for women).
  • Indoor cross-training shoes (we ask that you please do not wear outdoor shoes on the mats)

Krav Maga Level 2 :

(For Yellow Belt members)

Upon completing Krav Maga Level I, members will participate in a Yellow Belt workshop and test into Krav Maga Level 2. In this intermediate level class, members will continue to review and hone the skills learned in Krav Maga Level 1 and will learn additional punches and kicks, punch defenses with counterattacks, kick defenses, and defenses against various chokes, headlocks, and bear hugs. Members who train an average of three times per week should expect to complete the curriculum for this level in nine to twelve months before testing into Krav Maga Level 3.

Krav Maga Level 3 :

(For Orange Belt members)

Upon completing Krav Maga Level 2, members will test into Krav Maga Level 3. In this intermediate class, members will continue to train on strikes, defenses against strikes, and self defense, including more advanced techniques that involve defending against weapons such as knives, guns, and sticks. Members who train two to three times per week should expect to be ready to test for Green Belt in at least twelve months.

Krav Maga Level 4:

(For Green Belt members)

This class was designed specifically for Green Belt members interested in more advanced training, emphasizing Blue Belt techniques. The curriculum includes additional punches and kicks, more defenses against punches and kicks, defenses against knives, guns, and sticks, as well as advanced ground fighting techniques. Since there are a limited number of Krav Maga 4 classes offered, Green Belt members are encouraged to continue training in Krav Maga 3 classes as well.

Krav Maga Level 5 :

(For Blue and Brown Belt members)

This class is for advanced members only and covers all the advanced curriculum including fighting, ground fighting, advanced self defense, all weapons defenses, as well as third party protection.
